CAPTAIN COOK’S EXPLORER - A TO Z HELPFUL INFORMATION
The following
information is a guide only and is subject to change.
Kindly note that is your responsibility
to ensure you have all the correct documents including
visa, health and passport requirements. Please check
with your local authorities before you depart. For
information & details of passenger responsibilities
please refer to the passenger cruise contract.
ACCOMMODATION - 61 cabins each with private bathroom
ensuite, on/off air-conditioning, soaps, shampoo
and towels; serviced daily.
AIR
CONDITIONING - Each cabin contains an on/off
air-conditional switch
BAGGAGE - Baggage is limited to what you can stow in your
cabins, so you would be advised not to over
pack. All bags must be clearly labelled with your
name and cabin number. Bags have to be handled by
crew and we would appreciate a weight limit of 20kg.
Baggage can be deposited at the Captain Cook “Cruise
Café” on King Street Wharf anytime from
1.00pm on the day of departure.
BARS – Normal
closing time for bar services is 12 midnight. Our
licensing laws do not permit
alcohol to be brought onboard by passengers.
BIRTHDAYS & SPECIAL
OCCASIONS - You may want
to order champagne or make some other celebratory
arrangement for a special occasion. Please give two
weeks notice before sailing. Birthday cakes and sparklers
(no candles please) can be brought onboard at time
of embarkation and stored in ship’s cool room
(we regret we are unable to accept birthday cake
orders for this vessel)
BOARDING – The vessel departs from No.1 King
Street Wharf, Darling Harbour. The crew will load
your baggage. Boarding is at 5.00pm and sailing at
6.00pm unless otherwise stated on your ticket. Prior
to boarding please check-in with your ticket and
photo identification at the Captain Cook “Cruise
Café”, located on the waterfront promenade
at King Street Wharf between No1 and No.2 Wharves
(approx 400 metres north of the Sydney Aquarium).
If travelling by car, the nearest set down is the
northern end of Lime St, near Erskine Streets (off
Sussex Street), on the city side of Darling Harbour.
BRIDGE - You are welcome to visit the Bridge, however
please avoid times when the ship is maneuvering into
or leaving port and anchorage.
CASH
FREE - For your convenience we operate a cashless bar
system. You may use your Cruise Account for onboard
drinks and some optional shore excursions. Your Cruise
Account must be settled at the Bar prior to disembarkation.
AUD Travellers cheques or credit card (American Express,
Visa, MasterCard, Bankcard & Diners) will be
accepted for payment of your account, however we
advise personal cheques cannot be accepted.
COFFEE & TEA - Complimentary coffee & tea
are available, 24 hours, in the Bligh Lounge.
DINING - Dining, specialising in fresh local produce is
a highlight of your weekend experience aboard
Captain Cook’s Explorer. You will enjoy hearty
buffet breakfasts, al fresco luncheons that feature
fresh local seafood and a la carte dinners in contemporary
Australian style. Dining hours in the Phillip Saloon
are as follows: Breakfast 8.00am - 9.00am, Luncheon
12.30pm, Dinner 7.30pm. To enhance our service we
ask everyone to be prompt at Luncheon and Dinner.
There is one sitting for meals and Breakfast and
Lunch are free seating. Dinner Table reservations
are assigned for the complete cruise. Seating is
in tables of six unless otherwise requested and confirmed.
DISEMBARKATION - Please leave your luggage inside
your cabin, and the key in the outside of the door,
prior to lunch on the final day. It will be landed
ashore by ship's crew. All Cabin Accounts must be
settled prior to disembarkation.
DRESS
CODE - During the day sportswear and casual
clothes are suggested. We kindly ask however, that
you do not wear bathing suits or beach attire in
public rooms or lounges, especially in the Dining
Saloon. Footwear is requested in both the Dining
Saloon and Lounges. During the evening smart casual
wear is recommended - an open neck shirt and slacks
for gentlemen and a dress, skirt and blouse or pants
outfit for ladies. At the Captain's Gala Dinner a
jacket and tie would not be out of place for gentlemen
and a cocktail dress or pantsuit for ladies.
ELECTRICS - The ships electricity is AC 240 volts
50 cycle (standard electrical power used in Australia).
You are welcome to bring your own shavers and hairdryers.
ENGINE
ROOM TOURS - We regret due to insurance constraints,
we are unable to conduct engine room tours.
EXCURSIONS - During the cruise a number of shore
excursions are available (charges may apply to some
optional tours). You may be requested to book your
preferred times for shore excursions. As a courtesy
to your fellow passengers, please be prompt to your
marshalling station (details will be provided in
your daily onboard itinerary) with any items you
may need including sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, bathers,
towel or walking shoes.
FACILITIES - ‘A Deck’ dining room and
cocktail bar with panoramic harbour views; covered ‘Observation
Deck’ for al fresco dining, sightseeing and
relaxation; lounge and library; games chest and video.
GAMES - A games chest is located in the Bligh Lounge.
Feel free to make use of the games but please return
them to the chest.
LAUNDRY - Please note the ship does not have any
laundry facilities.
LIBRARY - A selection of books is available for
your reading pleasure in the Bligh Lounge. Kindly
return the books when you have finished reading them.
MEDICAL-
The ship’s crew does not include
a doctor, however the Ship’s Officers are trained
in First Aid. As there is no pharmacy onboard, please
ensure you bring adequate prescription medicines
you may require.
MEDICAL
- FITNESS TO TRAVEL - The passenger warrants
that they are physically fit and capable of undertaking
the cruise. A certificate of fitness of travel by
your doctor is required for passengers over 75 years
of age and/or passengers with limited mobility. For
full details please refer to the Passenger Cruise
Contract.
ONBOARD
CHARGES - These charges are not included in your
cruise fare and are payable at the conclusion
of your cruise (we regret they cannot be prepaid).
All amounts are charged to your onboard cabin account,
payable at the end of your cruise by credit card,
cash or traveller’s cheque (AUD). Please note
surcharges are subject to change. An example is Fuel
Surcharge.
PASSENGER
CRUISE CONTRACT - Tickets are issued subject
to the terms and conditions of the Passenger Cruise
Contract.
SOUVENIRS & FILM – A
selection of cruise souvenirs (eg hats and t-shirts)
and film are available
for purchase from the bar.
SMOKING
POLICY - The cabins and public rooms on the Ship
are designated as "Non-Smoking".
For everyone's comfort we ask you not to smoke in
these areas. Smoking is permitted on outside decks,
however we ask you to refrain during meal services.
As a courtesy to your fellow passengers, please refrain
from smoking pipes and cigars. Cigarettes are not
sold onboard.
SPECIAL
DIETS - Passengers requiring special meals
should advise the Company in writing at least two
weeks prior to sailing and discuss with the Cruise
Director on boarding.
TIPPING - Tipping is always a personal matter and
depends on whether you have enjoyed the service you
receive. Tipping is not necessary, however if you
feel the service exceeded your expectation, a tip
can be left with the cashier when you settle your
account.
TURNDOWN - Each evening while you are dining, a stewardess
will be conducting evening bed turndown
and leaving a copy of the following day’s itinerary.
VALUABLES - Please be aware the ship does not carry
a safe. Captain Cook Cruises accepts no liability
for the loss of any valuables. |
