2016 - 2017 Flex Rates
Valid from 01 April 2016 - 31 March 2017

Flex Rates give you the very best available price for the motorhome you want to rent. If you book early and there are plenty of motorhomes available, you will pay a much lower price. If you book closer to departure date or book for a high demand period then the rate will be higher.
 
However, once booked, should you need to amend the dates, the prevailing rates will apply. We get advised of new flex rates each week. Therefore each quote only valid until the end of each week.

Available Vehicles for Hire


Rates are calculated per calendar day.

The flex rate for the entire duration of the rental is determined by the date of pick-up, location and date of booking. The daily rate will not change within one booking.

Amendments prior to the vehicle collection date will be re-calculated at the flex rate applicable on the date of amendment. This applies to changing the vehicle type, reducing the number of rental days, changing pick-up dates and/or changing the pick-up or drop-off location. Where the number of rental days is being extended prior to pick-up (days are being added on at the end of the rental with no change to the original pick up date), or the bonus pack is being added
to or removed from the booking, the original flex rate, which applied at the time of the original booking, will apply.

    * Goods and Services Tax (GST) - GST is an Australian Federal Government imposed tax. GST is included in all Britz rates and is currently 10%. Britz reserves the right to amend GST upon Government intervention.

    * Administration fee - A surcharge of 3% of the total cost will be levied to cover state government taxes, vehicle registration recovery, duties and administration costs. This fee is included in the daily vehicle rate.

    * Linen and bedding includes pillow, pillowcase, sleeping bag or duvet (doona), sheet and towel per person.

    * Kitchen equipment includes plates, bowls, cups, glasses, knives, forks, spoons, bottle/can opener, mixing bowls, colander, saucepans, frying pans, cooking utensils, chopping board, kettle, teapot, toaster and tea towel.

    * General equipment includes pegs and clothesline, dustpan/brush, fire extinguisher, bucket/hose, broom, matches, ice cube tray, coat hangers, toilet chemical and floor safes in 4 and 6 Berth vehicles.

    4WD Outback Safety Kit - The kit includes an Emergency Position Indication Radio Beacon (EPIRB), snatch strap with D shackles and a folding spade. An EPIRB when activated transmits an emergency distress signal which can be detected by Australian rescue authorities. A snatch strap is used to pull a vehicle from a bogged position with the aid of another vehicle. The D shackles secure the snatch strap to a rigid anchor point.

Britz Inclusive Pack:
The Britz Inclusive Pack for 2WD Campervan / Motorhome rentals is AUD $55 per day (maximum charge of AUD $2,750
per rental) and is in addition to the daily vehicle rate.

The Britz Inclusive Pack for 4WD rentals is AUD $59 per day (maximum charge of AUD $2,950
per rental) and is in addition to the daily vehicle rate.

The All Inclusive Option includes the following services in addition to the provisions included in the standard rates:

  • 'Liability Reduction Option' insurance supplement with NIL excess including single vehicle roll over cover
  • Linen exchange service (exchange your linen and bedding at any Britz branch during your hire)
  • Additional driver fees
  • 1 camping chair per person
  • 1 camping table
  • 1 baby or booster seat (on request only)
  • Portable fan heater (on request only)
  • Mobile WiFi including 1GB data

For Your Protection - Vehicle Excess
The standard insurance is included in the rental rates. The third-party element of this insurance comes with a maximum cover amount of AUD $20 million and covers bodily damage inflicted upon a third party. There is no insurance cover for injury caused to the renter or passengers of the rental vehicle and Britz does not provide an insurance option for this. Britz strongly recommends that all people travelling in Australia take out personal travel insurance.

The renter is liable for an excess of AUD $5,000 (for Hitop and Voyager), AUD $8,000 (for 4WD Safari Landcruiser) or AUD $7,500 (for all other vehicles) per incident for vehicle damage in the event of an accident. This applies to any material damage to third-party property of the rental vehicle, regardless of who causes the accident. This liability remains in place no matter what until a third party admits liability and makes a payment to cover costs incurred.

In Australia, it is not compulsory for the locals to have third-party insurance. In the event of an accident or if someone flees the scene the renter is liable for any damage caused within the limit of the excess.

You can reduce the level of the excess or waive it as follows:
- The All Inclusive option can be booked in advance with us (see 'Inclusions' above - only available in advance - not at the depot). This option includes the 'Liability Reduction Option' insurance supplement.
- Alternatively, you have the option of purchasing the following insurance option locally as outlined below.

BRITZ STRONGLY RECOMMENDS OUR CUSTOMERS TAKE THE BUNDLE (IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE LIABILITY REDUCTION OPTION) OR THE BRITZ INCLUSIVE PACK, AND IN THE CASE OF 4WD VEHICLE HIRE, 4WD MAX COVER FOR TRAVEL WITH COMPLETE PEACE OF MIND.

Insurance Exclusions:
All insurance cover is null and void if the terms of the Britz Australia rental agreement are breached. Any damage that is caused when the renter acts outside of the rental company conditions is not covered by any insurance.

The insurance does not cover water / saltwater damage, including damage resulting from vehicle submersion, the vehicle being stranded in a water area, driving through causeways or beach driving.

Any damage caused by the vehicle rolling over where the renter is at fault is not covered by the insurance, unless you purchase the All Inclusive option. A vehicle rollover is deemed to have occurred where damage to the vehicle results from the vehicle rolling or tipping to such a degree that any or all tyres lose normal contact with the road surface.

Unless you have booked the All Inclusive Option or purchase the Liability Reduction Option locally, any damage to the underbody, roof or roof appendages is not covered. For hires with the 4WD Safari Landcruiser, any damage to the underbody, roof or roof appandages is not covered unless you purchase the '4WD Max Cover' insurance supplement locally.

Any personal property that is damaged or stolen during an accident, vandalism or theft is not insured. Private insurance should be purchased in your home country to cover any such issues. In order to avoid theft of personal items from the vehicle it is advised not to leave any valuables in the vehicle.

In the cases listed below, the renter is fully liable for damage to the rental vehicle and third-party property, i.e. no insurance cover whatsoever is provided:

  • 1)  Any Damage due to vehicle use in contravention of clause 17 ‘Use of Vehicle’;
  • 2)  Any Damage caused by wilful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the Vehicle) and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and negligence resulting in Damage to the hired Vehicle or third party vehicle/property;
  • 3)  Any loss or damage to personal belongings or property of the Customer (or any person or entity related to the Customer or any person as a passenger in the Vehicle);
  • 4)  Any Damage where the Customer is charged by local authorities for being careless, showing gross negligence or wilfulness in failing to abide by the local road rules, resulting in Damage to the hired Vehicle or third party vehicle/property;
  • 5)  Retrieving or recovering a Vehicle which may include, but is not limited to a Vehicle that has become bogged, submerged, caught, trapped, stuck or restricted in any way and/or has been abandoned;
  • 6)  Replacing keys which have become lost, stolen, or retrieval of keys which have been locked in the Vehicle;
  • 7)  Any overhead and underbody Damage to the 4WD Vehicle however caused – except where 4WD Max Cover has been purchased;
  • 8)  Any overhead and underbody Damage to the 2WD Vehicle however caused - except where the Liability Reduction Option has been purchased;
  • 9)  Any single Vehicle rollover (as described in clause 17.1 (a)), except where The Bundle (in conjunction with the Liability Reduction Option) or the Britz Inclusive Pack has been purchased;
  • 10)  Any towing and Vehicle recovery costs (up to AUD $8,000) from a 4WD road where permission is required in advance from Britz in order to travel (refer to road restrictions in clause 17.2 (c) for a full list of these roads) where the Customer has not purchased 4WD Max Cover;
  • 11)  Damage caused to the Vehicle because total load (kg) has exceeded recommended load as stated in Vehicle manual;
  • 12)  Damage caused by drivers not identified on the rental agreement and/or drivers that have a licence that has been cancelled or suspended and/or drivers who have a licence that is classified as a learner or probationary licence;
  • 13)  Any Damage caused to the Vehicle due to the use of snow chains;
  • 14)  Any Damage associated with the incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol), this includes Bio- Diesel which should not be used, or water or other contamination of fuel;
  • 15)  Any Damage caused to the Vehicle due to part or total submersion in water;
  • 16)  The Customer fitting accessories (as provided by Britz or otherwise) to the Vehicle incorrectly or otherwise in a manner which causes Damage to the Vehicle, the accessories or any other vehicle or property; and
  • 17)  Using the Vehicle in contravention of any legislation or regulation controlling vehicular traffic.
Whilst we appreciate accidents may occur, there are also clearly cases of driver negligence where any insurance coverage is voided. This includes incidents where the driver is found to be in breach of the law in terms of speed, alcohol, drugs, or is found by the police or investigating authority to have been driving in a dangerous or negligent manner. In all such instances, Britz reserves the right to pursue full recovery from the renter.

Vehicle Security Deposit
With the standard insurance, the deposit (which covers the level of the excess) can be provided by credit card only. Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted, cash or travellers cheques are not accepted. The owner of the credit card must be present and sign when providing the deposit and he/she is liable for any damages to the rental vehicle. This deposit can only be provided by the renter as named in the booking and it cannot be spread over 2 or more credit cards.

Note: Please ensure that you have sufficient funds on your credit card before departure.

All credit card payments are made in Australian Dollars. With any transactions made using a credit card, including providing your deposit with your credit card, additional and non-refundable administration charges will apply on top of the standard payment amounts as follows:
Visa, Mastercard: 2%
American Express: 4.6%

If the vehicle is returned undamaged and in good condition, credit card surcharges applicable to vehicle security deposits are refunded when the vehicle security deposit is refunded. This only applies if the card used is a Visa or MasterCard.

Neither the rental company nor the tour operator can be held responsible for any cost differences resulting from foreign exchange fluctuations or external fees, which occur between the deposit being deducted and the reimbursement.

Standard Insurance (i.e. without the additional excess reduction):
The deposit (AUD $5,000 / AUD $7,500 or AUD $8,000 depending on vehicle type) is deducted from the credit card when you collect your vehicle and is returned to you when you return the vehicle if the vehicle is returned without any damage or third party incidents having taken place. Any fluctuations in foreign exchange rates or fees are borne by the renter.

Liability Reduction Option or All Inclusive Option:
An authorisation of the credit card is all that is required at pick-up time. The customer authorises Britz to charge any fees such as cleaning fees, speeding or parking fines, rental extensions etc. to the credit card. For hires with the 4WD Safari Landcruiser, a security deposit of AUD $500 will be deducted from your credit card at pick-up. Any fluctuations in foreign exchange rates or fees are borne by the renter.

The deposit will be reimbursed in full as long as the vehicle is returned in the same condition in which it was collected, with full petrol/diesel and LPG gas tanks. The rental company reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee of AUD $250 if the interior of the vehicle is excessively dirty (and in the case of 4WD vehicles: if there are large amounts of thick-set mud on the exterior) at drop-off. This fee can also be charged for smoking related cleaning. The toilet and waste water tank must be completely empty unless you purchase the Express Return option, otherwise a further fee of AUD $125 will be charged.

FOR SECURITY PURPOSES, ONLY THE HIRERS CREDIT CARD CAN BE USED FOR VEHICLE SECURITY DEPOSITS.

Excess
The excess is always banked in the first instance, regardless of who is at fault and is owed to the rental company by the renter. It applies per incident and if a further accident occurs, a separate deposit is then payable to the same total. The excess is refunded to the renter if a third party admits liability and makes a payment to cover the corresponding costs. However, this can take some time.

If you choose to take out the Liability Reduction Option locally, the excess amount is limited as outlined above for the following incidents:

Accidental damage to the vehicle (excluding damage caused by the vehicle rolling) and to the property of third parties, windscreen or tyre damage, towing or recovery costs following an accident, damage resulting from theft, a burglary or fire. Any revenue the rental company loses as a result of the vehicle being repaired following such events is also taken from the excess.

2WD Campervans and Motorhomes:
If you purchase the All Inclusive option through us or the Liability Reduction option at pick-up, there is no excess at all and all damage to the rental vehicle including the roof, roof appendages or underbody (excluding damage caused by the vehicle rolling - only covered with the All Inclusive Option) or to the property of third parties is covered except for damage caused in situations as outlined in the section 'Insurance Exclusions' below and excluded damages listed in the rental contract that has to be signed on pick up.

4WD Safari Landcruiser:
If you choose to take the 4WD Max Cover option in addition to Liability Reduction Option or the All Inclusive Option, there is no excess at all and all damage to the rental vehicle including the roof, roof appendages or underbody or to the property of third parties is covered except for damage caused in situations as outlined in the section 'Insurance Exclusions' below and excluded damages listed in the rental contract that has to be signed on pick up.

Exchange Rate / Currency Variations
All credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations and/or
bank transaction fees there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially
charged. Britz does not accept any liability for variances up or down.

Credit Cards
Where a credit or debit card is presented as payment, the credit or debit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a Customer. The following credit or debit cards will be accepted: Visa Card, MasterCard and American Express. A non- refundable 2% administration fee will apply to all Visa and MasterCard transactions. A non-refundable 4.6% administration fee will apply to American Express cards. Credit card administration fees also apply to debited Liability Deposits. Only the Customer’s credit card is acceptable to use for the purpose of the Liability Deposit.

Personal and Company Cheques
Personal and company cheques will not be accepted as payment for rentals at the time of pick-up. These
must be received by Britz 14 working days prior to commencement of the hire/s.

Drivers Licence
A full (non-probationary) resident country driver’s licence must be presented at the time of rental for each nominated driver. If the licence is not in English format, an international driver’s licence is also required.

Age Restrictions
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over.

Extra Driver Fee
An extra driver fee applies for each additional driver’s licence added to the rental agreement except where The Bundle or the Britz Inclusive Pack has been purchased.

Additional Kilometre Charge
All 4WD Vehicles have 300 kilometres included per rental day. Thereafter a charge of $0.50 per kilometre may apply. Customers who purchase the 4WD Max Cover will be upgraded to unlimited kilometres per day.

The Bundle - Equipment Package
Equipment package (The Bundle) which is AUD $10 per day, includes the following extras:
- Camping table
- Camping chair (per person)
- WiFi including 1GB data
- Additional driver fee
- Linen exchange service
- Baby/booster seat (on request and if booked in advance)
- Portable heater (on request)

Express Return Option
This option can be purchased locally and costs AUD $200 per hire (price is subject to change depending on current fuel price).
It includes the following:
- First LP gas fill (you can return the gas bottle empty)
- A full tank of petrol / diesel
- Toilet and waste water emptying service (only available in Cairns and Melbourne)
- Express key return *

* If you have booked the All Inclusive option or Liabilty Reduction option, you may simply return your keys to the counter when returning the vehicle without any need to do vehicle checks. This service only applies where no vehicle damage has occurred while on hire.

Baby / Booster Seats
Baby seats and booster seats are compulsory in Australia for children up to 7 years of age. Seats that are only attached to the frame of the vehicle (such as the middle seat in the front of most motorhomes) are illegal. It is not permitted to use child seats from UK/Europe or other countries that do not have the appropriate connection apparatus for motorhomes. Children under the age of 4 are not permitted to sit in the front of any vehicle.

You can rent baby seats (for children under 4 years) and booster seats (for children from 4 - 7 years old) for AUD $36 per seat per rental. This is a one-off payment and is valid for the entire rental period. Note: - Families who require a baby and/or booster seat can only book the Voyager, Venturer Plus, Explorer, Vista, Frontier or 4WD Safari vehicles because these allow for 2 seats (Venturer Plus: only 1 seat) to be attached facing the front in the living area of the motorhome - Booster seats can be fixed in all vehicle models, except for the Hitop and Venturer Campervans

Please provide us with the age(s) and weight(s) of your children when you make your booking so that we can book the appropriate seat(s) for them. Baby and booster seats have to be booked in advance.

Rental Duration
Rental days are calculated on a calendar day basis. When calculating the number of days the Vehicle is rented, the day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental, regardless of pick-up time. The day of the Vehicle’s return is counted as the final day of the rental regardless of drop-off time.

  • Minimum rental period is 5 days with the following exceptions.
  • 4 & 6 berth rentals from Sydney over the Bathurst period, and Melbourne over the Moto GP period require a minimum of 7 days.
  • Minimum rental period is 10 days for hires where travel dates include 20 December to 10 January.
  • Minimum rental period for one-way rentals vary depending on the locations and this is advised at time of booking.
  • Minimum rental periods are subject to change, and any such change will be notified to you prior to booking confirmation
     
  • Late pick-up or early return of the Vehicle does not entitle the Customer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental.

Road Restrictions
2WD Campervans
2 wheel drive vehicles are only permitted for use on sealed roads. The only exceptions to this rule are roads of less than 12 kilometres leading to camping grounds such as Wildman River Wilderness Lodge in the Northern Territory and recognized roads on Kangaroo Island (South Australia).

Anyone who drives on unsealed terrain or in restricted areas does so at his/her own risk. The renter is fully liable for any costs including towing, vehicle recovery, etc that result from a breakdown or accident in these cases and there is no insurance cover.

4WD Vehicles
4WD Campers are only allowed to be driven on gravel, unsealed or dirt roads if these are clearly visible on maps. However, they cannot be driven off-road in any instance where an offroad zone is not marked on a map and 4WD damage will not be covered by the insurance in such instances.

The following routes require written permission from the rental company before you can drive there (with a 4WD vehicle):

Simpson Desert, Strzelecki Track, Gunbarrel Highway, Cape York, the Bungle Bungles, Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville Track, Tanami Track, the Plenty Highway, Gibb River Road, Burke Development Road from Chillagoe to Normanton and Savannah Way from Normanton to Borroloola, Fraser Island*, Finke Road (between Alice Springs and Oodnadatta), Central Arnhem Road and Arnhem Land in general.

Such approvals will take account of the state of the roads in question, the weather situation and the rental period. Britz reserves the right to limit the approved driving areas at short notice on the basis of weather or other concerns about the conditions of certain terrain.

* The Britz Safari 4WD is not permitted to travel to Fraser Island where any objects are being stored on the roof of the vehicle. This requirement is legislated and fines, enforced by local authorities are applicable.

Vehicles are NOT permitted, at any time, to travel on the Old Gunbarrel Highway, the Canning Stock Route, the Lost City in Litchfield Park, the Telegraph section of the road to Cape York, Boggy Hole (Finke Gorge National Park) and the Old South Road from Maryvale to Finke. Between the months of December to May it is not permitted to drive to Cape York. Anyone who drives on these routes does so at his/her own risk and the renter is liable for any costs including towing, vehicle recovery, etc that result from a breakdown or accident in these areas as there is no insurance cover there.

TASMANIA: Britz has a rental depot in Hobart. Alternatively, the vehicles can be taken on the ferry between Tasmania and the mainland. One-way rentals between Tasmania and the mainland are available. However, prior permission will be required before a 4WD one-way is approved.

A permit is required to visit several of the national parks and Aboriginal areas. It is up to the renter to arrange these him or herself.

Change of Drop-Off Destination
It is not possible to change the depot where you return your vehicle without prior approval from Britz. Otherwise, fees of up to AUD $750 will be charged.

Multiple Rentals
Should a Customer have more than one consecutive rental, the bookings can be combined to qualify for longer-term hire discounts off the daily Vehicle rates. Consecutive campervan hire in South Africa for Britz and Maui; and in Australia and New Zealand for Britz, Maui and Mighty can be combined to qualify if travel is within a 3-month period.

One Way Rentals

  • One-way rentals are available between all Australian depots and for all vehicle categories if requested in advance at time of booking. This includes rentals between the mainland and Tasmania. The following one-way fees apply at pick-up time.
     
  • Minimum rental period for one-way hires is 7 days or greater depending on collection and return location please refer to the one way matrix. Shorter hires may be available on application only.
     
  • A one-way fee of AUD $165 applies where pick up originates from Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Hobart, Melbourne or Sydney and returns to one of these locations. Should the hire originate in or return to Alice Springs, Broome, Darwin or Perth, the one-way fee will be AUD $250. E.g., a Cairns to Darwin one-way rental would incur a one-way fee of AUD $250, whereas a one-way rental from Cairns to Brisbane will incur a one-way fee of AUD $165.
     
  • The one-way fee if applicable is charged per hire.

Rentals In Broome
An additional remote location fee of AUD $750 applies to all Vehicles picking up or dropping off in Broome (though if pick up and drop off both occur in Broome, only one remote location fee will apply). This is in addition to any One-Way fee if applicable. This fee will be charged to the Customer at the time of booking except in the case of a change in drop-off destination occurs in accordance with our terms in which case this fee will be charged at the time that change is made.

Hobart Airport Fee
An airport pick up fee of AUD $30 per hire will apply to Vehicles with pick-up at Hobart Airport. This fee is subject to change in line with any new airport charges which may arise. This fee will be charged to the Customer’s credit card at the time of booking.

Vehicle Pick-Up
This takes place at the booked depot and during Britz' opening hours. Please do not arrive any later than 30 minutes before closing time.

Vehicle Return
You can drop off your vehicle at the booked depot during opening hours but no later than 30 minutes before closing time.

If the vehicle is returned earlier than agreed no refunds are possible. If it is returned later than the agreed drop-off date the renter will be charged at the standard rental rates (which will not necessarily be flex rates). Extensions to the rental duration can only be made with the prior approval of the rental company at the standard rental rate, which is not necessarily the flex rate that was provided on the original booking date. This payment must be made immediately by credit card when you return the vehicle.

If the rental duration is extended without prior approval a fee of AUD $150 will be charged per late day on top of charges for all addional rental days at the standard rental rate. It is not possible to change the depot where you return your vehicle without prior approval from Britz. Otherwise, fees of up to AUD $750 will be charged.

If the vehicle is returned damaged or not in a clean state, if the toilet or waste water tanks are not emptied or the petrol or diesel tank is not full (except if the Express Return Option is booked in advance) the rental company will impose the listed fees and additional charges. The cleaning fee is AUD $250 + a further AUD $125 in the case of the waste water or toilet tanks not having been emptied. apply.

Public Holiday Surcharge
A surcharge of AUD $100 will apply to all rentals picking up or dropping off on ANZAC Day (25 Apr), Boxing Day (26 Dec) and New Year's Day (01 Jan)

Branches Operating Hours:
The opening hours vary for the rental depots depending on what time of the year you pick up or drop off your vehicle. All clients are requested to arrive at the rental depot no later than 30 minutes prior to closing time.

Brisbane:
- 01 Sep - 30 Apr: open 7:30am - 4pm seven days a week
- 01 May - 31 Aug: open 7:30am - 4pm closed Sundays

Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney:
- 01 Sep - 30 Apr: open 7:30am - 4pm seven days a week
- 01 May - 31 Aug: open 10am - 4pm closed Sundays

Hobart:
- 01 Sep - 30 Apr: open 7:30am - 4pm seven days a week
- 01 May - 31 Aug: Depot is closed - (01 May to 15 May open for vehicle drop-offs only)

Alice Springs, Broome and Darwin:
- 01 Sep - 30 Apr and 01 Nov - 30 Nov: open 10am - 4pm closed Sundays
- 01 May - 31 Oct: open 7.30m - 4pm seven days a week
- 01 Dec - 31 Mar: Depot is closed

Cairns:
- 01 Nov - 30 Apr: open 10am - 4pm closed Sundays
- 01 May - 31 Oct: open 7.30am - 4pm seven days a week

All depots are closed on Christmas Day (25 Dec) and Australia Day (26 Jan).

Transfers
The transfer costs are not included in the rental rates. You will need to arrange and pay for these yourself.

Toll and Traffic Notices
Britz reserves the right to submit a statutory declaration to the issuing authority and/or charge the Customer for any speeding, toll way, parking or other traffic offence. In addition, Britz reserves the right to charge an administration fee of up to AUD $60 for associated administration costs to the Customer’s credit card upon receipt of a charge for any speeding, toll way, parking or other traffic offence incurred by the Customer. This fee will be applicable per offence.

If the Customer continues to exceed a speed of 110km or continues to exceed the posted speed limit, as determined by the Customer repeatedly ignoring the warnings of the telematics system fitted into the Vehicle, Britz may impose a fee on the Customer in the amount of AUD $300.

On-Road Assistance
Britz provides 24 hour on-road assistance support. Please contact Britz on free call: 1300 850 805 if you require assistance.

Any problems associated with the Vehicle including equipment failure, must be reported to Britz within 24 hours in order to give Britz the opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental. Failure to do so may compromise any claims for compensation. Subject to our terms, Britz reserves the right to not accept liability for any claims submitted after this period.

Maintenance and Repairs
Britz will reimburse the Customer for expenditure up to AUD $200 reasonably incurred in rectifying any mechanical failure to the Vehicle. For repairs costing over AUD $200, Britz will need to be informed and confirm the repair in advance. Repairs will be approved and reimbursement for expenditure will be made (where applicable), provided the Customer was not responsible for the damage. In all cases, receipts must be submitted for any repair or the claim will not be paid.

Unless the Customer has taken the Liability Reduction Option, the Customer will pay for the cost of repairing or replacing tyres damaged during the Rental Period except if the tyre is defective and is returned by the Customer to Britz for inspection and is subject to a warranty claim on the manufacturer.

Guaranteed Vehicle Model or Category
The rental company will make every effort to ensure that the booked vehicle model is provided. However, it reserves the right, if due to unforeseen circumstances it has to provide either a vehicle of the same or a higher value without upgrade costs if the model booked is not available for any reason. Any additional costs such as higher petrol costs or ferry crossings costs, etc will not be reimbursed.

This does not enable the renter to cancel his/her booking and there is no ground for compensation. Even though all vehicles have similar equipment and designs small differences in vehicle design may exist. All measurements and size indications are approximate values and are based on the information provided to us by the rental company. We cannot accept responsibility for any mistakes or human error in the provision of these details.This information on our website can be changed at any time without prior notice.

Vehicle Category
Vehicles cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle category.

Voluntary Downgrade
Should the hirer decide to take a lesser vehicle than booked they will not be entitled to any refund.

Pets:
Pets or other animals are not permitted inside the rental vehicles, with the exception of guide dogs for visually impaired passengers.

Shortening of Rental Period:
If a renter shortens their hire period by more than a week - it may be treated as a cancellation of the whole booking and a re-booking. This depends on when the amendment takes place and how many days of hire are being cancelled. Please ensure you always have travel insurance in place.

Cancellation Policy:

  • If cancelled up to 22 days prior to pick-up No Fee
  • If cancelled from 21 to 7 days prior to pick-up 30% of Gross Rental
  • If cancelled 6 to 1 days prior to pick-up 60% of Gross Rental
  • If cancelled on day of pick up or No-Show 100% of Gross Rental
  • If vehicle is returned early for any reason whatsoever there is no refund available for the unused days.

Booking Amendments
All amendments to bookings are subject to availability of vehicle and/or package. Different rates may apply based on the amendment made.

Amendments prior to the vehicle collection date will be re-calculated at the flex rate applicable on the date of amendment. This applies to changing the vehicle type, reducing the number of rental days, changing pick-up dates and/or changing the pick-up or drop-off location. Where the number of rental days is being extended prior to the vehicle collection date (days are being added on at the end of the rental with no change to the original pick up date), or the Inclusive Pack is being added to or removed from the booking, the original flex rate, which applied at the time of the original booking, will apply.

Important:
Britz reserves the right to refuse any rental at its discretion.
